3 of the Best Things to Do in Pigeon Forge During Winter

January 22, 2025

If you’re hoping to have a peaceful escape in Pigeon Forge, winter is the best time to visit! Once the holidays pass, it’s considered one of the slower times of the year in the area. That means you can take advantage of less traffic and a calmness you won’t find during the busier months. While the weather may be colder and some attractions close for the season, there are still plenty of things to do! To help you plan the perfect trip, we’ve made a list of three of the best things to do in Pigeon Forge during the winter.

1. Visit Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show

Of course, the top attraction on our list is Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show. Our Pigeon Forge dinner show is closed in January but reopens for select dates in February! Step into the warmth of our theater and be transported from the heart of the Smoky Mountains to the high seas. Our action-packed dinner show is fun for all ages and features everything from acrobatics and sword fighting to pyrotechnics and live animal tricks. Be sure you bring your appetite when you visit because our four-course feast is designed to fill the hungriest of landlubbers and pirates alike! It starts off with our famous Voyager Creamy Vegetable Soup, which tastes even better on a cold wintery day. You’ll also get a warm Buccaneer Biscuit, Cracklin’ Pan-Fried Chicken, Swashbucklin’ Sugar-Cured Ham, Cob-O’ Buttery Corn, Matey’s Mac ‘n’ Cheese, and Apple O’ Me Eye Pie. To add more fun to your experience, get tickets to our Animal Encounter for the same day as your show and meet our incredible animal performers, then Join the Crew and be transformed into a swashbuckling pirate or a beautiful mermaid. Everyone from kids to adults will have a great time this winter at Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show!

2. Enjoy Other Indoor Attractions

Winter is a great time to explore some of the other popular indoor attractions in Pigeon Forge as well. We recommend checking out one of our sister shows, like Dolly Parton’s Stampede! You’ll be swept away in a high-spirited adventure that features impressive horse riding tricks and breathtaking aerial acrobatics, along with a four-course country feast. You can also visit the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud to become a part of the longest-running family feud in history and cheer for the Hatfields or the McCoys as you witness mighty feats of strength, singing and dancing performances, and jaw-dropping stunts. This show offers an all-you-eat Southern homestyle feast that’s served family style! Not in the mood for a dinner show? Visit The Comedy Barn Theater to laugh the night away while watching the most successful clean comedy show. It features jugglers, ventriloquists, animal acts, comedians, singers, and dancers! The Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud begins daily shows in February, while Dolly Parton’s Stampede and The Comedy Barn are open on select dates in February and return to daily shows in March.

The Titanic Museum Attraction is another popular spot in the winter. It’s an incredible celebration of the ship, its passengers, and its crew. Learn more about the ship by browsing more than 400 artifacts and participating in interactive exhibits. Walk a replica of the Grand Staircase, shovel coal in the Boiler Room, and learn how to send an SOS distress signal. If you visit during February, you’ll get to experience Sweetheart Month, which celebrates the love that was abundant on the ship. The Titanic Museum Attraction is a great place to visit all year long, but there’s something special about visiting during the winter! If you choose to visit both our show and the Titanic Museum Attraction this winter, take advantage of our combo tickets!

3. Explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

If you’re not afraid of the cold weather, we recommend visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! During the winter, you’ll have the opportunity to see snow-covered mountaintops, icicles, and frozen waterfalls, all of which offer an unforgettable sight. Layer up and enjoy a popular winter hike, like Rainbow Falls! You can also take a drive through the Cades Cove Loop Road to explore the Smokies from the comfort and warmth of your car. Just be mindful of winter weather that may lead to hazardous road conditions. Be sure to bring a camera with you to capture all the incredible views!
