Pirates Voyage Taking Shape in Panama City Beach as Construction Progresses
February 18, 2025The excitement is building in Panama City Beach, as the construction of Dolly Parton’s Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show continues to take shape. The venue’s marquee sign was put in place the first week in February, and the theming of the building exterior is about to get underway.
“We’re still going ‘overboard’ with the details as we prepare everything – it’s so exciting to see the big Pirates Voyage sign has gone up, and Buccaneer Bay is coming to life,” Dolly said. “Like I’ve been telling you, this is going to be a show that guests to Panama City Beach are not going to want to miss.”
The excavation of the first – and biggest – indoor task of “building” the lagoon, the centerpiece of the set that will house the two pirate ships where the action of the entire show takes place, has been completed. The floor slab of the lagoon has been poured with the walls starting this week. After all this is completed, the 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon will be filled by 600,000 gallons of water.
In addition to the lagoon, flooring throughout the venue is being installed, and the final coats of paint are making it onto the building’s interior walls. Additionally, the venue’s exterior theming is being staged in the parking lot, and the sea lion habitat construction has begun.
In January, tickets went on sale for dates starting on June 1, and the menu for the four-course pirate feast was revealed. Now an extensive nationwide talent search for the crew begins, and a hiring event in late March will bring aboard the cast of hundreds who will get everything ship-shape and ready to open. Positions will be hired in the areas of culinary, guest services, maintenance and more.
The $60 million project is set to be complete in late spring 2025. Tickets are available now by visiting our show schedule.
